Ranking sorts and limits the categories shown in a widget, for example only the top 5 pages by visits, or the bottom 3 by conversion rate. It works especially well with Table widgets.
Open the widget and scroll to the bottom of the widget designer on the right.
Click Advanced Block Options to expand the settings.
In the Ranking section, switch the toggle on.
Ranking is applied before the data is plotted, so the widget shows only the ranked subset of categories, not all available data.
Rank bysets the metric used to sort the categories:
Value (default): ranks by the metric value, for example number of page views.
Name: ranks alphabetically by dimension name.
Change: ranks by the change in value over time. A Change mode setting then lets you choose Percentage or Absolute.
Order sets the direction: Descending (default) shows the highest first; Ascending shows the lowest first.
Take limits how many categories are shown. Enter a number to show only the top or bottom N, for example 5 for the top 5 rows. The default is All.
Skip skips the first N items before displaying results. Combined with Take, setting Skip to 5 and Take to 5 shows items ranked 6 to 10. The default is 0.
Controls how categories with no data are handled in the ranking. There are three options:
Bottom (default): Categories with missing values are placed at the end of the ranked list.
Zero: Missing values are treated as zero, so these categories are ranked as if their value is 0.
Drop: Categories with missing values are excluded from the widget entirely and not shown.
My widget only shows a few categories.
Ranking may be limiting the rows. Open Advanced Block Options and check the Take value, or set it to All to show everything.
Ranking has no visible effect.
Ranking sorts and limits categories. On a widget with a single value and no category breakdown there is nothing to rank. Add a Group by dimension first.
