An Insight is a collection of the metrics and KPIs that come from one connected source, for example the Meta Ads Insight with figures like ad spend, clicks, and cost per click. It is the list your widgets pick their numbers from.
Deleting an Insight removes that whole collection permanently, together with every metric in it.
Only the KPI collection is removed. The pipeline, which is the connection that keeps syncing new data from the source, and all the data it has already synced both stay in place.
You replaced an integration and want to clear the old Insight out of your space.
You want to revoke access for everyone at once, because the Insight should no longer exist.
Note: If you only want to take access away from one space, do not delete the Insight. Open the Sharing tab on the Insight instead. See Share Insights.
Note: Deleting an Insight removes the KPI collection, not the data behind it. As long as the pipeline stays active, it keeps syncing new data from the source into your warehouse, and you keep access to that data. Admins can browse it under Data Studio. To stop the syncing as well, delete the pipeline. See Delete a pipeline.
When you confirm the deletion, the following happens immediately and permanently:
The Insight itself is removed, including all its metrics.
All shared access to this Insight is permanently revoked.
All dashboard widgets using this Insight show an error instead of their data. The widgets themselves are not deleted and stay on your dashboards.
Consumers in other spaces immediately lose access.
Any AI agent you connected with an agent token, for example Claude, Langdock, or ChatGPT, can no longer read this Insight. The token itself stays valid and keeps working for your other Insights. See Agent Tokens.
The pipeline and all the data it has synced stay untouched.
Note: You cannot undo the deletion, but you can build the Insight again from its pipeline. The new Insight gets a new ID, so Indicate treats it as a completely new Insight: your widgets are not reconnected and your shares are not restored. See How do I get a deleted Insight back? below.
Before you start
You need admin rights in your workspace.
The deletion cannot be undone. You can build a new Insight from the pipeline afterwards, but widgets and shares do not come back.
Tell your team before you delete a shared Insight. No notification is sent.
Go to Engineering → Semantic → Insights.
Click the Insight you want to delete, for example Meta Ads.
Click Options in the top right corner.
Select Delete from the menu.

The Delete Insights dialog opens and lists what will be affected. Read it before you continue.
Next to the Insights name, click Copy to copy the exact name.
Click the field Type the insights name to confirm deletion and paste the name with ⌘ + V or Ctrl + V.

Click Delete permanently.
You cannot undo the deletion, but you can build the Insight again from the pipeline that feeds it. This works as long as the pipeline still exists.

Go to Engineering → Processing → Pipelines.
Click the pipeline the deleted Insight was built from.
Click Options in the top right corner.
Select Create Insights.
Note: The result is a new Insight with a new ID, so Indicate treats it as a completely new Insight, not as the old one coming back. Two things do not return on their own:
Widgets are not reconnected. They keep showing an error until you open each affected widget and select the new Insight as its data source.
Shares are not restored. Invite the other spaces again through the Sharing tab. See Share Insights.
I cannot find the Delete option under Options.
Deleting requires admin rights in the workspace. Ask your workspace admin to delete the Insight, or to change your role.
The Delete permanently button stays greyed out.
The name in the confirmation field does not match. Click Copy next to Insights name and paste the value instead of typing it.
My dashboard widgets show an error after the deletion.
That is expected. The widgets are still there, but the Insight they read from is gone, so they have no data source left. Open each affected widget and assign another Insight. The error disappears as soon as the widget has a valid source again.
I deleted an Insight by accident.
The deletion itself cannot be undone, but nothing is lost for good. The pipeline and your synced data are still there, so you can build a new Insight from the pipeline. See the section above. Your widgets still need to be pointed at it by hand.
I wanted to remove the pipeline and the synced data too.
Deleting an Insight leaves both in place. See Delete a pipeline, which has switches to remove the Insights and the synced data in one step.
What is the difference between deleting an Insight and deleting a pipeline?
Deleting an Insight removes only the KPI collection. The pipeline keeps syncing and your synced data stays. Deleting a pipeline stops the syncing and removes the pipeline and its configuration, and can optionally remove the Insights and the synced data as well. To remove the connection and every pipeline built on it, see Delete a Source Connection.
