Once ChatGPT is connected to Indicate, you can ask about your hotel data in everyday language and get an answer straight away. For example:
"What was our occupancy last week?"
"Which booking channel brought the most revenue in July?"
"How does this month's ADR compare to last month?"
ChatGPT reads the answer directly from your Indicate data. You do not need to build a report or know any formulas.
You set this up once. It takes about 5 minutes. You do not need any technical skills, only copy and paste.
You can log in to Indicate and open your hotel's space.
You are and Admin in Indicate.
You can log in to ChatGPT with an account that allows adding connectors. If you are not sure, ask whoever manages your ChatGPT account.
Have both open in your browser, in two tabs: Indicate in one, ChatGPT in the other. You will copy details from one to the other.
Is this safe?
The connection only lets ChatGPT read your data to answer your questions. The data is send following data protection regulations. Treat the client secret you copy like a password: do not share it or send it by email.
You will copy three details from Indicate and paste them into ChatGPT. That is the whole connection.
The three details are:
In plain words | The exact name on screen | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
The address of your data | MCP Server URL |
|
The connection ID | OAuth client ID | starts with |
The secret key | OAuth client secret | Token you receive in Indicate |
In Indicate, open your hotel's space and go to Chat with your data in your
left sidebar.

Find the Agent Apps section and click + Connect app. This creates the connection for ChatGPT.

Choose ChatGPT as the app you want to connect.

Under Display name give it a name you will recognise later, for example My Hotel ChatGPT.
Select whether you want chatGPT to have access to only the space you are currently in (single space) or all the spaces your user has access too (multi-space).
Check the toggel that you acknowledget tha each connecting user is billed.

Select the button Create app.
A new popup window opens and Indicate now shows you the Client ID (example oac_…) and the Client secret (example sac_…). Copy both and keep them somewhere safe for a moment. Do not share your client secret!

On the same page, find the MCP Server URL and open it to Copy.
The client secret is shown only once. Copy it straight away. If you close the window without copying it, you cannot see it again and you will have to create a new client secret. Do not worry, that only takes a minute.
Leave this Indicate tab open. You now have all three details.
Now switch to your ChatGPT tab.
Go to chatgpt.com and open your workspace (top left).
Click Settings.

Open Plugins

Then click Browse plugins.

Click the + button. A form called New plugin opens.

Now fill in the form. Match each of your three details to the box with the same name:
Name: type a name for the connection, for example Indicate.
Connection: leave Server URL selected, and in the box MCP server URL, paste the address of your data: https://industry.indicate-data.io/mcp

Authentication: choose OAuth. This simply means ChatGPT will sign in to Indicate securely.
Open Advanced OAuth settings, then:
Registration method: choose Custom OAuth client.
OAuth client ID: paste the Indicate connection ID (oac_…).
OAuth client secret: paste the Indicate client secret (sac_…).

You can find the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client secret in Indicate:

Leave every other box as it is.
Open ChatGPT in the browser and inform yourself if any changes habe been made in ChatGPT.
Finally, tick the box I understand and want to continue, which ChatGPT shows for every custom connection, and click Create.
ChatGPT now opens an Indicate sign-in screen to confirm you are the owner.
You will see a message like "My Hotel ChatGPT wants to connect to your Indicate workspace."
Check the hotel workspace shown is the right one.
Click Allow.
That is it. The connection now appears in your ChatGPT Plugins list. You can close Settings.
Start a new chat in ChatGPT.
Make sure your Indicate connection is switched on for the chat. You turn it on with the + or tools button in the message box.
Ask a real question, for example: "How many bookings did I get last month?"
ChatGPT answers using your live Indicate data.
The more specific your question, the better the answer. Mention the time period ("last week", "July") and the number you care about ("occupancy", "ADR", "revenue by channel").
Can I connect ChatGPT to more than one hotel or space?
Yes. You can add several Indicate connections to the same ChatGPT account, for example one per hotel. Just give each connection a different name (like Beach Hotel and City Hotel).
I closed the window and lost the client secret. What now?
No problem. Go back to Chat with your data in Indicate, click on the app you what to get the client secret from, click on the three dots ⋮ select rotate secret to create a new one. Copy the new details, and update them in ChatGPT. The old client secret loses access immediately when pressing the rotate secret button.
Where do I find the data address (MCP Server URL) again?
In Indicate, open Chat with your data, find the MCP Server URL section, and click Copy.
How do I disconnect ChatGPT?
Two ways: remove the connection in ChatGPT (Settings → Plugins), or open Chat with your data in Indicate and switch off the connection from its ⋮ menu under Agent Apps click Delete. Either way, ChatGPT can no longer read your data.
Will ChatGPT change anything in my hotel data?
No. The connection is for reading and answering questions only.
I cannot find Plugins or connectors in ChatGPT.
Not every ChatGPT plan can add connectors. Ask whoever manages your ChatGPT account whether your plan allows it or check out the features of your current plan. The menu names can also differ slightly by language and version.
ChatGPT warns that the connection is not verified.
That message appears for every custom connection and is expected. Tick I understand and want to continue to carry on.
The sign-in fails or shows the wrong hotel.
Make sure you are logged in to the correct Indicate space in the same browser, then try again. Also check that you pasted the connection ID and secret key completely, with no missing characters or extra spaces.
